Glich Art is an aesthetic category that is framed in the processing error of certain digital sound and visual materials, it arises in the accident, and from there it is conceptualized, the sound and the visual undergo modifications and accidental errors that break with the intrinsic logic of the file itself, which becomes a strange way of perceiving that information. Error is taken up as an empowering source of creation, understanding and search for knowledge.
The following pieces of video art manipulate digital error in order to create an illegibility that accounts for obvious but not explicit pornography, the error is the camouflage of porn. Images that may be closer to enjoyment than to the representation of bodies in friction.
The sequence is made up of 5 video clips. Fragments extracted from the Internet through a selection process that starts from the users’ search, with the aim of creating a mapping of their preferences. Each video represents a top category of what was most viewed by Mexicans during 2017 according to the company PornHub.
Each of the videos is intervened using a glich technique, specifically DataMoshing, which is based on data compression. This technique has two error creation mechanisms, the bloom effect, which is the use of pixel movement to corrupt the file, and data moshing, which is the elimination of image frames.
The series aims to recreate alternative pornography from existing pornography, this as an aesthetic experiment that tries to represent the idea of “Impossible Pornography”.
